Alvin Tafadzwa Matewa works in a corner of the industry far too few people occupy: where marketing technology meets delivery. He founded both Simboti Digital, where he is Chief Marketing Technologist in South Africa and CEO in Zimbabwe, and TNG Solutions, where he is Head of Projects. He also hosts the TechMark Podcast, sitting down with the people shaping the future of marketing and technology.
His career began in enterprise technology delivery, running complex, high-stakes projects for some of South Africa’s most significant organisations across national power infrastructure, metropolitan municipalities, and large financial services environments. Data-centre upgrades, fibre rollouts, end-user computing, cloud migrations, enterprise software. He built his reputation on one simple thing: getting hard technical work delivered where it actually counts.
That delivery discipline is what sets him apart in marketing. While much of the industry talks strategy, Alvin focuses on the part most organisations quietly struggle with, which is turning expensive marketing technology into systems that are properly built, properly connected, and earning their keep. He is, put simply, the person who makes martech work.
He also makes time to teach. In July 2025 he was invited to guest lecture an MBA class at Wits Business School, where he shared practical frameworks on marketing technology, project management, and SaaS architecture, and showed the students how digital transformation really works once you get past the textbook.
Through Simboti Digital, he helps marketing leaders and founders across South Africa and Zimbabwe build marketing technology for real conditions: tight budgets, high data costs, and customers who live on their phones and in WhatsApp. That work increasingly includes enterprise AI: through Simboti Digital Zimbabwe, the firm recently won a competitive tender from a national bank to design and deploy a custom, AI-powered revenue-assurance system. He is a genuine believer in digital transformation, and he is available for keynotes, panels, workshops, and executive sessions across the region.
